It’s time! Tonight, Friday, 20 June, we’re throwing open the doors for another thrilling edition of the NZ Mountain Film & Book Festival, packed with award-winning films, world-class speakers, and heart-pounding adventures. Five action-packed days in Wānaka (20–24 June), two in Queenstown (26–27 June), and a whole month of Online Festival magic (1–31 July)—this is adventure, any way you like it!

Speakers Who Bring the Stoke
This year’s lineup of adventure legends is not to be missed!
Beth Rodden (USA) – One of the greatest rock climbers of all time, Beth’s story spans El Capitan ascents, surviving a hostage ordeal in Kyrgyzstan, and the release of her acclaimed memoir A Light Through the Cracks.
Sam Smoothy – Freeride skier turned filmmaker, Sam takes on his most ambitious project yet: XXIV, an attempt to climb and ski all 24 of NZ’s 3000m peaks. Expect grit, wild terrain, and jaw-dropping descents.
Nick Pascoe – From Mt Aspiring to the Tasman Sea, Nick’s 2023 ski-packraft expedition was a mix of bush bashing, glacier crossings, and wild alpine rivers. He’ll share the highs, lows, and everything in between.
Beth will also lead a free session for high school students, part of the NZMFF Charitable Trust’s ongoing effort to inspire young adventurers. This year, 180 students from Mt Aspiring College, 105 from Cromwell College, and 20 home schoolers will attend. Families can also enjoy free one-hour film screenings in Wānaka and Lake Hāwea—the perfect way to introduce young audiences to the magic of outdoor storytelling.
