2026 NZ Mountain Book Festival Entry Form

  • We only accept books published within the last 10 years.
  • (international Standard Book Number)
  • Each book may only be entered in one category and the festival reserves the right to re-categorise an entry as needed

    Narratives are defined as: Stories and accounts about specific events/ adventures (whether fiction or non-fiction).

    Heritage is defined as: Guidebooks, coffee table/picture books, history books, analyses, reflections on culture, environments or ethics, advocacy.

  • To be eligible for the Nankervis & Bamford NZ Mountain Book of the Year award, the book must be set in the mountains of NZ, or written by a New Zealander or permanent resident. Entries must be still in print and available for public retail in New Zealand Stores, or from a New Zealand-based distributor, in sufficient quantity for sale at the festival book stall.

    *Titles with retail shipping solely from overseas are not eligible for entry. The book needs to be in NZ shops.
    Note: AI-Generated indicates text or plots were created by an AI tool based on a prompt (e.g., asking ChatGPT to write a scene). AI-Assisted indicates using tools to refine your original text (e.g., Grammarly, ProWritingAid, spellcheck, or brainstorming prompts where the AI does not write the actual manuscript). Books entered may use AI tools for assistance, but may NOT be AI-Generated.
