– NZMFF SPECIAL JURY AWARD
56 mins, Director Benoit Delfosse, Belgium, subtitles.
Two paragliding pilots engage in an exploration of the Spiti Valley in the Indian Himalaya, to find out why few have tried to fly in this place where, according to local folklore, the gods live. Mountains brush against sky and glaciated peaks rise up to 6,500 metres high. Arid, dry, rocky landscapes produce violent aerial conditions and their remoteness makes oxygen supplies impossible. Despite the risks, the athletes take us on an exhilarating scenic discovery of this unique valley and the sky beyond.
